Spring 2024 - I took this class in Spring of last year and noticed he is still teaching so for future bruins who need a 5 unit class and and an opportunity to receive an A on their transcripts, take this Professor. I loved this quarter and I remember vividly enrolling four weeks late into the class so I had to play catch up from the beginning. My TA, Peter, man that's a throwback name. Anyways, Peter was so helpful and a fair grader. There was a ChatGPT use scare for one of the midterms/finals because they were essays on a prompt of your choice. Rather than outright handing out Fs, Professor Ruiz allowed these students to reconsider the use of AI on his assignments and resubmit their own work. If you have read the stories in the Sociology Department, this man is the polar opposite of Terri Anderson. His motto, do not postpone joy, describes him perfectly.
