Description: Seminar, three hours. Enforced requisite: satisfaction of Entry-Level Writing requirement. Freshmen/sophomores preferred. Examination of differing arguments that historians have crafted surrounding purpose of institutionalization, with focus on history of mental illness outside of institutions. Discussion of controversies surrounding anti-psychotic and anti-depressant drugs. Letter grading.
