i've taken posner twice, and he is a very standard social science professor. pretty inaccessible and but gives very straightforward lectures, the readings are all case studies pertaining to the week's content. posner takes a pretty neoliberal stance in his approach to development and never really questions it, which I don't appreciate. exams are simple in my opinion, except the take home midterm which was a 6-8 page paper that we only had 48 hours to do!!! not a difficult class in general tho

Definitely recommend this class for IDS/Poli sci. Ross is a great lecturer, and is really clear in his expectations, which aren't all too much. We had Perusall readings weekly and had to leave a comment, two midterms consisting of multiple choice (which can be tricky, it's all on the readings), and a 4-ish page essay. The final was optional, which most didn't take because they posted our preliminary grade which most were satisfied with. TAs are great (especially Julian), and they hold helpful review sessions before the midterms.
Overall, Ross is fascinating and would love to take another class with him!
