Winter 2017 - I had Professor Ardeni for Italian I and loved her! She's super nice and helpful, and she makes the class very easy. She only speaks in Italian during class, which I thought would be annoying, but it actually helped me learn the material better. It didn't feel like a chore to go to class, because Professor Ardeni likes to engage with the students and tries to make things fun. The homework is a pretty light load, and you can do it ahead of time if you want to get ahead. None of the tests were difficult, and it's an easy A if you show up to class and do some studying right before tests.

I had Donatella for Italian 1 and this is my second quarter with her. She is such a great teacher. She tries to make class as interesting and fun. This quarter we got to practice speaking more and we listened to some Italian music to get a sense of how different verb tenses are used. I have loved being her student because she always wants to help everyone do their best.

Fall 2018 - Claire is fantastic. Super nice, super understanding, and very clear with expectations. She makes sure all homework activities are relevant to exams and offers lots of extra credit opportunities. Her outfits are sick and she's super energetic for every class. Also bought the whole class cupcakes from Whole Foods for someone's birthday

If you're not an italian master, you might want to steer clear of her class. while she is funny at times, i found that she's only funny because she's so mean...honestly. i know that sounds ridiculous, but i feel that it's true. she's very picky and won't hesitate to correct you on grammar points you haven't yet learned. she isn't very inviting when it comes to soliciting help, as it seems that she'd rather take the opportunity to poke fun at you, even in front of the class. while it becomes more light-hearted as the class wears on, it gets old having to be on your feet ALL of the time in her class. i got an A, but i know spanish already, which is similar, and i'm sure i'd have had a harder time if it were my first foreign language. final advice: avoid her if you can help it. if you're advanced, got for it.
