She is awesome. Great sense of humor, very understanding and very relaxed. She is open to questions and explains more if the students don't understand. I would take a class with her again!

When I found out that professor Tognozzi would be teaching Italian 6 I did think twice about whether or not I should take the course. The concept of a professor teaching a language course is almost unheard of and it was a bit intimidating. However, after attending the first day of class I knew that I would be just fine. At times the work load did seem overwhelming, however it wasn't impossible to accomplish. Furthermore, the work is designed to make students think outside the box and begin to use their ananytical and critical skills with Italian prose. As far as the stories go, it is true that some were boring, but for the most part they were enjoyable. She is a very funny and charismatic woman who truly cares about her students learning as much as possible about Italian culture, literature and language. I highly recommend any course taught by her. Her grading is very fair and her lectures are well organized and enjoyable. The tests are not very difficult, if you take the time to study the material. Readings are very important for tests (as jensen states below), however she gives her students ample opportunity within class and during office hours to clear up any misunderstandings, etc. All in all she is a great professor.

Professor Truong was just OK. There was definitely a jump in work load between Italian 5 and 6, but it wasn't too difficult. There were five two page compositions and two oral presentations, plus the usual two quizzes, midterm and final.

Truong was a moderately fair grader overall, but I felt like she could get a little nit-pickey especially when grading the compositions. Also, she doesn't explain her assignments very well.

Troung was definitely more strict than the other Italian teachers I've taken--she makes you turn in the homework and other busywork, which made me feel like I was back in high school. But overall, if you're one of those people who has done all of your assignments throughout Italian 1-5, I'd say you'd be fine.
