Field Methods I

Description: Lecture, four hours. Preparation: grade of B or better in course 103 or in examination on practical phonetics. Requisites: courses 200A, 200B. Analysis of a language unknown to members of class from data elicited from a native speaker of the language. Term papers to be relatively full descriptive sketches of the language. May be repeated for credit with topic change. S/U or letter grading.
