Description: Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour. Requisite: course 160. Study of processes used in fabrication of ceramics and glasses for structural applications, optics, and electronics. Processing operations, including modern techniques of powder synthesis, greenware forming, sintering, glass melting. Microstructure properties relations in ceramics. Fracture analysis and design with ceramics. Letter grading.
