I took 32AH and 32BH with Professor Arant and he’s one of the most wonderful professors I’ve had at UCLA. His lectures are exceptionally clear and he explains hard concepts very well.
His class was definitely challenging and 32BH was harder than 32AH. However, as long as you do the homework every week, you should be on top of things. To do the homework, you will need your notes/textbook but if you do that, you should be pretty much set for the midterms/final.
He’s very approachable, friendly and has good handwriting. I heard he also won a teaching award, which he definitely deserves. His class prepared me really well for my proof intensive upper division honors classes. Can’t recommend him enough. Take a class with him if you can

Over 50 students dropped out of 125 by the second midterm. His lectures typically did not cover material that was relative to help with homeworks or exams. The average on the first midterm was around 45/100 or something like that, absolutely ridiculous considering this math is fairly concrete despite it's inherent difficulty. If you are good at self-teaching then you have a chance. Thanks to this class/professor I am seriously considering changing majors.

Let me first say that I have never been in Professor Conley's class, so I cannot comment on his exams or grading. However, I have been watching his old BruinCasts as a supplement to my own professor's lectures, and MAN IS HE GREAT! Professor Conley is very clear and thorough, and he has a way of explaining even tough concepts in a simplified manner so that you can actually learn. I especially like the way he helps you visualize mathematical concepts (through computer-generated models, for example). Once again, I cannot speak for his grading, but from his lectures, I think that he is a fantastic professor.

I'm sorry to say, but he's the worst teacher I have ever taken. No matter how much I studied, even if I did decently above the average (I got 75s on both midterms while the average was around 55), I still ended with a C+, and this was the first C I have ever gotten in school. His grading does not make any sense. I wish I had taken another professor. His lectures are absolutely useless and the homework is basically self-learning, because he doesn't care enough to stick to his schedule. Bad experience.

Very challenging course, but great instructor. Problem sets could be long and tough sometimes, but they were usually graded fairly easily.

Not the most lenient grader on the tests, however, and the tests were all definitely challenging (including the 24 hour final).

But would highly recommend as a TA or an instructor for any other class!

In her office hours, Radko came across as a nice and patient professor who wants students to understand the material. I still found 32 B to be hard, but anyway... Her accent and soft-spoken manner of speaking, even with the aide of a microphone, make her difficult to understand. Do not take this class with her if it is offered in a dark lecture hall.Occasional quizzes during discussions add bursts of midterm-like stress and panic each week and I am still not sure they really helped with grasping the material or being better prepared for the final.

Whatever the posters said down there about Thiele's class has definitely changed in thr last few years. His tests aren't fair at ALL... I did every problem in thr book and I still wasn't prepared... I saw some types of problems on the midterm that I'd never seen in my life. His examples in class definitely weren't of that level, and neither was the hw. Don't even think about finishing the test, because imo its impossible.
