Fostering Musical Creativity: Artists and Repertoires
Description: Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Beginning from psychology of creativity (James, Dewey, Csikszentmihalyi) and management literature, exploration of creative process and how to foster and control it; and collaborative process with producer, manager, labels, and other executives. Topics include path of artist; recognizing creative individuality; structure and freedom; collaboration and how teams work, including inside and outside concert hall and recording studio; negotiation and career-building; feed-back and evaluation. Special attention to musical creativity and its rhythms. Letter grading.

Winter 2025 - The Vanderveers are just such a good time. I will say, the final project is quite a bit of work depending on your role in your group. So just know that while the weekly assignments are a breeze, you're going to have to lock in eventually, but if you enjoy what you do that won't be an issue at all.
