History of Western Music: Era of Empires and Marketplaces

Description: Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour. Requisite: course M6B (may be taken concurrently), 125A. Course 125A is requisite to 125B, which is requisite to 125C. Students must receive grade of C or better to proceed to next course in sequence. Introduction to history, culture, and structure of Western music, in era of empires and marketplaces, through selected topics, repertoires, and analytical techniques. Letter grading.
