Description: Seminar, one hour. Music has existed since beginning of recorded history and plays critical role all of our lives in some way. Whether it's listening to music when we are relaxing, studying, or exercising, we have all had experience of music influencing our emotions and behavior. Exploration of science behind relationship between music and brain and why music makes us feel and act as we do. Basics of describing what music is and explanation of scientific basis behind how both playing and listening to music physically and emotionally impacts us. How people with certain mental conditions process music differently. Applications for music as therapeutic tool for treating mental disorders in cases where pharmaceutical drugs fall short.
