Scientific Underpinnings for DNP Practice

Description: Lecture/seminar, three hours. Requisite: doctoral standing. Develops critical thinking skills of DNP students in evaluating state of nursing science and its impact on advanced nursing practice at doctoral level. Introduction and exploration of role of DNP in broader health care environment and correlation to advanced practice nursing roles. Discussion of scientific theories and conceptual frameworks forming foundations of knowledge and clinical scholarship in doctoral nursing practice. Theoretical concepts and strategies that integrate practice inquiry into various roles of advanced practice nurse incorporated throughout course. Emphasis placed on professional writing competencies as related to scientific underpinnings for DNP practice. Letter grading.
