Description: Tutorial, three hours. Limited to juniors/seniors. Supervised individual research under guidance of faculty mentor. Culminating paper or research project required. Up to 8 units may be applied toward degree requirements, but no 199 course may be substituted for course in one of four groups on basis of similarity of subject matter. May be repeated for credit. Individual contract required. P/NP or letter grading.
