Fall 2022 - Bachtis is one of the most entertaining professors in the department. I would love coming to lectures and especially because the content of this class was amazing. Everything from 110A comes together in such a beautiful way imo. The grading scheme consists of homework, two midterms, and a final. The homework was pretty straightforward and straight from Griffiths. The two midterms I thought were not very representative of what we learned throughout the class though. They were difficult and worded weird. The final was very fair however. Despite this being a tough class it was probably my favorite class in undergrad so far, especially when you get to special relativity.

Fall 2018 - Professor Carter is a really great lecturer. His gently midwestern accent will put you at ease and help you love the back half of griffiths. The class is pretty tough, but very manageable. He didn't cover waveguides in our class, instead spending more time discussing some neat plasma phenomena, and really going into depth on the special relativity section.

Pietro is a wonderful guy. I took two upper div classes with him and worked in his lab, and I can say that he is both an excellent teacher and a mentor. His class is very entertaining and he took one of the hardest subjects in physics (E&M) and actually made it doable. He spent the most time focusing on the useful aspects of the material and ignored the unimportant stuff. It was refreshing to have a young and energetic professor for what are typically thought of as the hardest upper div physics classes. Working for him has been great as well. PBPL (Particle Beam Physics Lab) is a fun lab with a bunch of great people. To any physics students out there looking for a good research opportunity, there seems to be funding, and PBPL is a great place to work.

Dr. Stenzel is professor most concerned with student learning that i have ever had. I don't know why he only has a 7 in that category, he should have a 10, hands down. His class isn't easy, but he knows his stuff. He's very available too if you have questions. Other than that, the class i took wasn't curved, so as long as you do the work, you'll do fine in the class.
