Miao's "easiness" is conditional - I have friends who got 95-100 on the first midterm, and others who got below 50. If you've taken physics AP or are pretty familiar with mechanics then Miao's tests should be cake. However, if you're like me and haven't taken any physics in high school, then try to avoid Miao. He sometimes teaches in a way that reviews concepts assuming you know what's going on. The midterm grade distribution was very abnormal - it wasn't a bell curve, it was a straight line. Some people think that Miao is the easiest professor ever while a relatively high percentage of people dropped out after the first midterm. However, Miao is one of those professors who want everyone to "get an A and become doctors"; if enough people in the class email him, he'll extend deadlines. I completely bombed a the midterm but since he let us drop one midterm scores, I ended up with a B.

Summer 2015 - CHEAP PHYSICS TEXTBOOKS! You'll need the physics textbook package (3 books) plus mastering physics access code for the entire physics 6 series. All of this is is $180 dollars at the ucla book store (I'm serious, go see for yourself- it's $177.75 plus tax). I have the brand new entire set of 3 textbooks plus a new unopened mastering physics access code and I'll sell it to you for $80. Seriously, that's 100 dollars off! If for some reason you want the book with no access code (some teachers don't require them but almost every single physics professor does) I'm selling those for $50. Email me at *************

Professor Ong is one of the best teachers I have had so far at UCLA. He's a really nice guy and really does care if you learn. If you pay attention in class and do the problems that he suggests for review and look at his review notes, you're good to go. He's very fair and made physics bearable! Awesome teacher! Take him if you have the chance, you won't regret it.

Prof. Pau is pretty chill. She's really nice about turning in homework if you have any problems. Definitely go to office hours, she's clears up a lot of stuff. I know sometimes she can be very unclear, and she can keep going even if the class doesn't get it. I took this course with her over the summer and it was the only class I had, and that may sort of make me biased, but I spent hours each day in the library doing practice problems, which is the only way to learn in this class. But yeah, I'd recommend her to my friends, she's not bad. It's the course really, not her. And the TA's were awsome too, so look for a good TA. lol I ended up with an A-, which is what most of the class got, so don't worry.
