Summer 2023 - This was a fine enough class for a Summer Session. Alegre was friendly and engaging, but the topic of the class was unfocused. The final project was simply asking us to do a 30 minute podcast on any topic related to Latinx health, politics or identity that intersected with our own lives. It was far too broad. No focus whatsoever. Ultimately, Alegre reminded us that her goal was to show us to enjoy researching something that had to do with our own lives, and that our lives mattered. It felt almost like she was more inclined to be a therapist or life coach than to a career in teaching, particularly a political science course. The class was an easy A, but not something you'd like to take if you'd like to expand your educational experience.

Spring 2024 - I didn’t really love this class or the teaching style of the professor. Every lecture was just her talking next to slides with no engagement from the class - she goes really fast and doesn’t explain things very well. She was accommodating given what was going on during the quarter (made attendance optional and lowered some requirements) but I didn’t think she was very engaging as a lecturer. I wouldn’t take her again, but I would say she’s alright if you’re considering her class.
