Fall 2023 - This was a horrible class. I do not recommend. The lectures were disorganized and unhelpful. The professor was quite rude, even making fun of students at times. The assignments are structured in a way that sets students up for failure. If you want add a heaping dose of stress to your life, then this is the class for you!

Spring 2025 - Perez was an alright professor, maybe psychology just isn’t my thing. I got an A, there was two papers and a few quizzes during discussion. If you complete the readings before discussion, the quizzes are very easy. The papers are based on movies he assigns you to watch, in our case it was Wag the Dog and Hotel Rwanda. I didn’t mind watching the movies, they were both good. The TA I had graded generously on the papers. Lectures were pretty boring and the professor explicitly told us to speak to the TA’s first as he had a busy quarter, doing research and his son being in baseball. He had no office hours, although the TA’s were very helpful whenever you had questions. Don’t get me wrong, Perez is a cool guy but don’t count on him being able to get to know you and write a letter. There is lot of extra credit opportunities like participating in studies and getting others to participate. You will get an A in this class if you read, go to class, and do some easy studies for extra credit to strengthen your grade

Fall 2017 - I would never take a class with Sears again. He is extremely nice and offers help to anyone seeking it out, but the class is extremely difficult to the point that you lose motivation half-way through the quarter. Both his midterm and final have an insane curve, and thats because his exams are ridiculous. I feel like this professor has high expectations of his students, but these expectations are quite absurd. The only reason I chose this class was because it sounded interesting. Since this is my first quarter at UCLA, I had no idea about BruinWalk before choosing this class. Now I know to never let something like this happen again. This class has ruined my quarter and I feel like I am walking out of the class not learning anything.
