Fall 2023 - This was a horrible class. I do not recommend. The lectures were disorganized and unhelpful. The professor was quite rude, even making fun of students at times. The assignments are structured in a way that sets students up for failure. If you want add a heaping dose of stress to your life, then this is the class for you!

Spring 2024 - I took this class for major credit and really enjoyed it! The content is interesting and I really loved my discussion section with Grant. The class was easy and Perez ended up cancelling a lot of lectures and assignments towards the end of the quarter due to stuff going on on campus. I'm sure it isn't like this every year but out of all the classes I was taking at the time, this one was definitely the quickest to cancel and make things easier which was great for me. There were a couple multiple choice quizzes which were a little difficult because the wording is so specific but overall not bad, and the essay prompts were frustratingly broad but graded easily. I would recommend this class as an easy class that I didn't mind taking at 5pm because it was cancelled so often.

Fall 2017 - I would never take a class with Sears again. He is extremely nice and offers help to anyone seeking it out, but the class is extremely difficult to the point that you lose motivation half-way through the quarter. Both his midterm and final have an insane curve, and thats because his exams are ridiculous. I feel like this professor has high expectations of his students, but these expectations are quite absurd. The only reason I chose this class was because it sounded interesting. Since this is my first quarter at UCLA, I had no idea about BruinWalk before choosing this class. Now I know to never let something like this happen again. This class has ruined my quarter and I feel like I am walking out of the class not learning anything.
