Cognitive Development
Description: Lecture, three hours. Requisites: courses 10, 100A. Major theories, approaches, and issues in study of cognitive development. Readings include original research on important topics such as development of perception, language, thinking, and problem solving, and acquisition of concepts and domain-specific language. P/NP or letter grading.

Winter 2020 - This was my 3rd time taking her, she was my professor for Research Methods and Language Development, however, I would never take her again after taking her Cognitive Development course. She messed up my GPA by giving us a tricky online final that consisted of 100 T/F questions that were supposedly "simplified." She could've had more compassion for students that were going through things because the COVID-19 is very stressful for everybody. Professors were even given the choice to make changes to their final exams and she didn't do anything.

Just because her tests are not run of the mill multiple choice exams does not mean her class is impossibly difficult. She tells you exactly what to expect and has excellent discussions in class about the material. Class participation made this class, she should make it part of the grade. Oh well. She is still a great lecturer who really knows her stuff very well. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not it; if you are looking to learn a lot and are willing to actively listen, this is the professor to sign up with.

Take this class! Dr. Juvonen is a great professor. She absolutely cares about you, is completely available and does not try to trick you with weird tests. Show up, listen to the lectures (which are great), do the reading (no texts, just one research study per class) and you will do great. Wish I could take her again - I learned a lot!

Winter 2018 - The class is pretty do-able as long as you study all the lecture slides. She breaks each test into powerpoint slides so that's really convenient. The professor is very kind and always willing to help. After an exam I would recommend going to office hours to see what you missed and how to do well on the other exam, she gives you tips! There are 3 midterms and 1 optional final! I have all my notes, and study guides/review sessions needed to do well in the class. I also have all my quizlet flaschcards online which I can give you access to while studying. I got an A in the class and as long as you know the powerpoints really well and skim the book experiments you'll do good! Contact me at ************* if you want my stuff! :)
