Self and Identity

Description: Seminar, three hours. Requisite: course 10. Designed for juniors/seniors. Examination of theory and research that addresses self from social psychological perspective. Topics focus on self-knowledge, how self is represented in memory, illusions about self, self-esteem, implicit (subconscious) self, self-regulation, social comparison, self-relevant emotions, and influence of culture on self. P/NP or letter grading.
