Institutional Leadership and Public Manager

Description: Lecture, three hours; outside study, nine hours. Examination of leadership role of executives in public service as they lead and manage in tough day-to-day world of politics and intensive public scrutiny. Heavy emphasis on case studies that focus on what public managers do, political and organizational environment in which they find themselves, and skills they need both inside and outside their organization to get things done with high degree of competence and integrity. Letter grading.
