Fall 2025 - Professor Waugh clearly cared about his material and wants his student to be interested as well. His exams are online and comprise of analysis questions on the readings. He posts the exams in the morning and give you pretty much all day to complete it. The professor does a good job of overviews on the reading and pulling out important quotes to assist with understanding the broader point. He also would post the slides on the day of the exam, but I found it more helpful to listen to his comments, because he guides you toward the right direction. I would advise at least completing the short readings if you can, because it helped me a lot time-wise for the exams. He is very approachable. I would advise that you explain yourself well in your exam answers and tying it to the main themes of the class. Refrain from summarizing. There are 3 exams and they progressively are worth more points. The final is cumulative. His syllabus also said he is open to rounding if he knows that you put in effort into your exams and participated in class. Overall, if you put in work into the exams, you will succeed.

Winter 2017 - Review for M E St M50B!!!!! Donald is such a nice person! He is very clear about his background and his expectations, and you can tell he really loved what he was teaching! The lectures themselves are easy to listen to and at times are a bit boring. He uses slides that contain all the info you need and posts them on CCLE, so if you miss a class, its no big deal! The midterm and final were really easy (As on both) and he posted a study guide for each but the paper was a little more difficult. We had to write a 7-8 page research paper and for someone who isn't particularly amazing at writing, that proved to be the most challenging part of the class. The key is to start early! Overall, I would highly recommend, especially if you find this stuff interesting!!
