Korean Buddhism
Description: (Same as Korean CM160.) Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Knowledge of Korean not required. Introduction and development of Buddhism in Korea, interactions between indigenous Korean culture and Sinitic traditions of Buddhism, Korean syntheses of imported Buddhist theological systems and meditative techniques, and independent Son (Zen) schools of Korea. Letter grading.

Spring 2018 - Professor Buswell seems kind, but he is very busy. He once had to step out in the middle of a lecture because he had a meeting to attend. His TA grades most (if not all) of the assignments. TA did a good job facilitating the discussions. No group projects, just papers. Final essays must use the books Prof Buswell wrote as reference. Overall, interesting subject but not a very engaging class.
