Inconsistent Dichotomies: Examining Sex/Gender Binary

Description: Seminar, one hour. Interdisciplinary look into strengths and weaknesses of sex/gender binary. Examination of biology of sexual development concurrently with sociological effects of using binary system to categorize humans. Specific topics include hormone levels, sexual variation in nonhuman species, sex biases within scientific research, and existence of transgender individuals. P/NP grading.
