Advanced Theory of Social Welfare Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups -- School Social Work

Description: Lecture, two and one half hours; outside study, nine hours. Integration of theory and practice as they pertain to role of social workers in school settings. Biopsychosocial/ecological assessment of students (including, but not limited to, differences due to ethnic and/or cultural diversity and to students who are learning handicapped), ecological intervention strategies, collaboration within multidisciplinary team, and role of liaison between pupils, family, school, and community. Use of discussion, videos, current literature, and case presentation to explore impact of school social workers as change agents. S/U or letter grading.
