By far the best class I've taken as a sociology major at UCLA! Professor Foster is one of the best professors I've ever encountered! He's so passionate and accommodating, he handled every obstacle that came our way this quarter so well it was unreal. He truly cares for the wellbeing of his students :')

For the course work, the material is very interesting and manageable. Practicing the concepts on the homework and reviewing the notes + textbook will really help make everything click. Foster does a great job on making the course fun so you definitely won't regret taking this course!!!

Professor Grannis is so funny. He always has everyone cracking up during lectures and I find it hilarious that he doesn't have office hours (you can talk to him after class if you need to). This class had a lot of busy work & weekly group projects to help us build our social networks lol, but they were very easy & didn't take long. The topics were super interesting and the projects often had you analyze your own social networks. To be clear, the class is not on Facebook, Twitter, etc. but on actual social networks (how people know each other, how people use networks to get jobs, how networks matter in the workplace). It was fairly easy and the quizzes & exams were straightforward.

This has been one of the easiest classes I have taken at UCLA. Ka is an amazing professor. Some say she was hard to understand with her accent but I was able to understand her just fine. There are readings from a book which she gives you access to online-no $ for books! As long as you pay attention in class and complete ALL homework assignments, you can succeed. The homework assignments take time but you can easily get 100% if not higher. She tried using clicker questions this quarter, so attendance was important as well. This class is very interesting, so it was easy to engage in the text, slides, and homework. Take this class with Ka!! She's awesome.

Initially, this course was a bit confusing since it involved matrixes in a sociology class, but after getting the hang of it, the material was fairly easy. One thing is that he speaks kinda fast and there's a lot of information to cover. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory since the class is podcasted and the slides are posted online. Attendance to discussion is mandatory and my TA was very helpful. We had discussion homework every week. There's a multiple choice midterm and multiple choice final.
