Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Properties of norms, of normatively governed conduct, of lay and professional methods for describing, producing, using, and validating norms in contrasting settings of socially organized activities; relevance of these properties for programmatic problems of analytic sociology. Fieldwork required. P/NP or letter grading.
