Fall 2025 - AMAZING CLASS, SUPER FUN, REALLY INTERESTING and the professor is so nice and chil!! as well as the TA's. I've already taken 3 classes with Prof Ribet because her class set up is amazing. she follows the same structure for all her classes. everything is due at the end of the quarter, and you pick and choose which assignments you want to do for the grade you want. so if you want an A, you need to score 90 points or higher, meaning doing a couple of short essays, book reviews and film reactions. everything is up to you and ur pace. I ended up doing almost all the assignments because I'm an overachiever, but you could literally do 6 assignments, and then show up to class/section (which also counts as points) and get an A. like you don't even have to attend anything, it's all up to you, but if you do, you can get points. and the assignments are really fun because the readings and films are so interesting and you learn SO much in this class. Not only is it an easy A, but you'll also really enjoy taking this class so please take it!!!!

Professor Seltzer gives THE HARDEST tests I have taken at UCLA. They are not hard because the material is hard or boring (the material is VERY interesting). The tests are hard because the professor wants EXACT answers. Like, she will ask specific percentages or something that she points to in the lecture that she you would not think you needed to know. Do not let her sweet character fool you. Those tests are NO JOKE. She and the TA both grade the tests and papers, so uhh yea.. she WILL have a lot to say about grading. The TA was not really a big help when it comes to going over what the professor wants. Like the TA went over major themes in the readings (which are on the tests to some degree) but the specific demographics that Professor asks for, hard to get from the TA. Just remember, her tests are very detailed. If you really are good at remembering things, I would take the class. I am thinking I will get a B out of the class. No EASY A for sure tho. The break down of the class was: Clicker participation and section: 10% Reaction Papers: 15% Midterm: 25% 5-6 Page Paper: 20% Final: 30% (Or something like that) Goodluck.
