Gary is interesting, I'll tell you that. The class was fun because he's really knowledgeable and extremely passionate about musical theater. He randomly dances and sings in class, and it's quite entertaining. The only problem I had was that his random tangents deterred me away from the material I needed to write down. Pay VERY CLOSE attention to his lecture and make sure you write everything down! It's really important for the pop quizzes. And keep your notes organized from the start! I ended up getting a B in the class because it was never clear what I needed to write down. Write it all. It's interesting and fun, but you have to do your part.

Summer 2023 - I took this as a six-week class during C-sesh but wow was it a tremendous amount of work. Each week we were expected to watch 2-3 lectures (about 3 hours long) + watch 2 documentaries (3 hours) and read a number of hefty articles. This material was all covered on the weekly quizzes which were very specific and anxiety-driving. There is a final paper at the end of the six weeks that has a word count and because of that, I feel like there was not enough content to fulfill that word count. Maybe it was because this was a quick class covering 10 weeks of material but I felt that it was so much work. would not want to take another class with this prof.
