Description: Lecture, 90 minutes; studio, two and one half hours. Introduction to fundamental techniques used for construction and performance of various styles of puppetry ranging from hand-rod, large and small scale, to shadow play. Emphasis on learning about Los Angeles puppetry community and professional components of the industry and deepening an appreciation of the diversity of global puppetry traditions. Letter grading.
