From Identity to Narrative: Exploring Your Voice through Arts

Description: Seminar, one hour. Designed to bridge connection between storytelling, self-empowerment, and social transformation. Exploration through using voices in new ways, engaging with personal narratives, and practicing group sharing in order to embrace stories of others. Study of narrative sharing through reflective process of experiential learning, drawing from academic sources, performances, and arts-based story collections to both inspire and challenge expression of narratives in new ways. Students reflect on their own roles in creating social change and envision their identities as arts activists by using their narratives. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Maya Ram, with David H. Gere as faculty mentor.
