Took it because the EE department advisors recommended it to get an 'diverse overview' of what the industry is like... I disagree. This is just a speaker series class where a different EE alumni comes back to talk about what they do, how they got to where they are, and a bit about what their experience with UCLA was like (which won't matter much because on average they all graduated 10 years ago). Every single one of them talks about how they do a lot of CS in their day-to-day lives, some are in management, almost all of them have worked for Raytheon, it's not really interesting. Someone has to swipe everyone in for attendance. Every class they leave time for questions, and no one asks any. All that was asked in terms of work was to write a short a paragraph highlighting 3 take-aways for every lecture, never took me longer than 30 min. I wouldn't say it's a complete waste of time, but many of my peers would.

super easy, super boring. attendance is taken so I attended all of the sessions but I dont think I got anything out of them. there were 4 homeworks throughout the quarter which were really easy writing prompts. there really is nothing to say about this class other than its boring but easy. if ur taking this ur prolly a fall quarter freshman, so dont worry about this class, esp cuz its p/np.

Incredibly boring zoom or in person lecture 1 hour a week, followed by a weekly writing assignment that was basically graded on completion. I guess it was kinda cool to see different jobs UCLA EE grads have, but I didn't learn anything important or get anything useful from the class. Take it if you have to or want to, at the end of the day it's just a 1 unit BS seminar with a free pass.

If this class isn't required, don't take it. It's just a bunch of "industry experts" coming in and saying how despite being electrical engineers, they spend most of their time coding. This is the opposite of inspiring and kind of disappointing to anyone who is an electrical engineer hoping not to go into coding. Or maybe it's meant to be a harsh reality--either way, it's a waste of time. Attendance is mandatory (they swipe your BruinCard) but you can usually leave after getting swiped if you're sneaky about it. Also, there's a few assignments assigned for random lectures--I'd only skip the ones you have friends attending or the very previous time there was an assignment.
