I took the new math course for premeds.

I'm surprised that no one below mentioned this at all, but one of the coolest things about this class, was that the professor wrote the textbook himself, and distributed the textbooks out to the class FREE OF CHARGE. Seriously. WTF? I was so surprised. This is how ALL college classes should be like: free textbooks for the students! I mean, seriously. I'm a poor, broke college student who can barely afford food, and the university, to which I pay nearly $30,000 a year, thinks that I should pay for textbooks too? Preposterous. Garfinkel and Conley were godsends.

Not only that, Professor Garfinkel is the best professor to ever teach, and I was blessed to have him as my instructor. Everything written about him below was pretty much accurate and holds true to my own experience, which is surprising because most reviews on bruinwalk tends to be bullsh**. Also, the TAs were super helpful. I had the WORST discussion sections prior to taking this class (AHEM LAVELLE AND FELKER) and thought that I should just skip out on discussions. NOPE. Discussion is mandatory, and thank God that it is mandatory. I learned so much in discussion from the teaching assistants and the really cute, smart Asian guy (student in the class, which is amazing because most pre-meds try to trick you) that always helped me and other people with the computer programming part. I loved this class, and you should take it too.

I too, was told recently [about three hours ago, actually] that dr Garfinkel's bruinwalk page was active by an old classmate. Awesome!

As mentioned below, dr Garfinkel is absolutely amazing at what he does, and his brilliance resonates through each and every single mind present in the room. His lectures are fascinating, also as mentioned below, and it is true that his lectures are indescribably captivating.

dr Garfinkel incorporates much of his own research into his class, and they too, are amazing.

As mentioned below as well, dr Garfinkel is not available 24/7 as any hopeful premed would like, but he instead has amazing teaching assistants like Jane [who, by the way, is actually teaching LS30A during summer session c!] and captain Nguyen and brilliant and helpful classmates like Mike [I think that's how you spell his name, if you ever see this sorry!] who actually would help me with a program called Sage [this cool math modeling program] and general studies :)

All-in-all, I loved ls30b, and you'll definitely love it too :)
