Professor Hall is VERY enthusiastic about what he does. I found lecture to be very interesting! There is no textbook, which is a plus. But that also means that you will have to study the slides for the tests. I would highly suggest taking the lab component with him and getting it out of the way, because I found it to be very easy. Overall, a great class. Take it if you get a chance!

Took this class in Spring 08. Lectures are boring, but his powerpoints are posted online so I manage to learn everything on my own during the midterm and final. The homework assignments are easy but it's always better to work in groups to double check answers. Biggest Advice: form study groups! Because the subject is sometimes hard to grasp it better to study with other people. The midterms and exams are hard. Requires a good amount of studying, but Prof. Hall is really generous with the curve. The subject is really science-y, and involves using the calculator for number calculation so be warned! Had the best TA ever: Sarah K. She cleared everything up and gave additional notes. She's super-TA! For a GE, the material leans toward hard, but what you learn is useful and applicable. So for those who have a genuine interest in this, do take it, but for an easy GE, take GEOG 5. P.S Prof Hall is a really good dresser. Everyone I've ever spoken to about this course agrees
