I cannot believe this professor doesn't have more reviews. She is AMAZING. She is young and excited to teach and is overall very knowledgeable about aesthetics and critical theory. The class is pretty straightforward. The only assignments are a weekly 250-word blog post and a final exam. The only rule for the blog posts is that they must be done by the end of the quarter. There are 9 in total. Keeping up with the reading is vital to success in this class, and I would also say attending lectures(though she doesn't take attendance), because she connects the authors' readings to each other (how their points relate). If you have to miss, she does upload her lectures to bruin learn, which comes in clutch. Overall, I would take any of her classes again, and if this class is available to you, don't hesitate!

Also! The textbook is free. She provides a PDF version!

BEST CLASS EVER!!

I love Professor Nersessian. She's so smart and really knows how to synthesize and explain critical theory in a way that's everyday and relatable. Also, I loved that her final wasn't just another damned paper, but had a manageable in-person final that had some light and easy passage ID and allowed us to apply the thinking and tools we learned throughout the quarter to art objects and other stimuli. This class should be the very first thing you take as an English major, and if you like art you're gonna love this class.
