Very intelligent man, kind of reminded me of some sort of old-school, intense academia and intelligentsia that I think is useful to be exposed to at least for a little while. He taught Global Studies 100A (wasn't on the list of things he taught though) last winter and I really appreciated the content of what he taught. Most everything made me reconsider the ethics of cultural phenomena. Yes, his lecturing style is a bit erratic and he doesn't put up slides that baby you through whatever concepts he wants to get across, but he gets you thinking, and that's something that not everyone can do.
