Winter 2025 - This is a great way to gain experience in the classroom. While I was interested in the course material and Dr. Kreide is really enthusiastic, the lectures felt almost completely disconnected from the assignments we were to complete. Dr. Kreide LOVES hiding links to readings and assignments in her slides, so theyre easy to miss. I would have had such a better time if the Canvas "Assignments" feature was used, or if she even reminded us verbally about assignments in class! I missed the final project document because it was never brought up in class. I would have loved a timeline given to me at the beginning of the quarter of all of the things I was expected to complete outside of class, because I was often confused/blindsided. Otherwise, I do recommend this course to anyone interested in gaining experience teaching in a classroom setting. You volunteer in groups of 1-4 (depending on your availability) at a local elementary school 3 hrs/ week and have to deliver your own lesson around midterms. There is a final presentation about your experience.

Spring 2025 - This was such a fun class! I took this to see whether I would want to do the science education minor, and I had a great time. I had a really good time with the field visits, even though my site was a little far by bus, and making and executing a lesson plan was a great experience. It was different from anything else I was doing at school, and it definitely made my quarter better. Attendance is required but you can lowkey just fill out the google form on canvas for attendance if you can't be there, or just talk to the professor. The weekly seminars are fun and engaging, they mostly consist of talking to your partners or the class about readings and videos. The final project and presentation don't take too much time to put together.
