Unlike other students who leave comments, I find this class with Professor Iseli easy. Weekly homework is the major component of the workload, but I only spent ~2-3 hours on average each week on homework. The two quizzes require a decent amount of time to review. I spent like two hours on reviewing the notes for each of quizzes. Since the final was 24 hours open book, I didn’t even review before the exam. This course is chill in online format. Professor Iseli is clear, caring, and supportive, although it could be a bit hard to recognize her handwriting occasionally. I would recommend anyone interested in 170B to take it with her. You should be familiar with analysis before taking this class, otherwise you can lose points anywhere because you made minute mistakes in real analysis. This course requires more rigor than usual undergrad classes.

This was my second consecutive quarter with professor Iseli (I took 170A with her the previous quarter)

The other reviews do a pretty good job of explaining the logistical side, so I'll just say that I feel like the professor really cares a lot about the experience and learning of her students.

For example, I didn't have the greatest experience in her class last quarter. I often felt the workload was too heavy, and explanations were sometimes a little unclear. However, she is still a relatively new professor, and I felt that she took a lot of the feedback students gave last quarter, and made this quarter feel a lot more enjoyable. I had a really good time in her class this quarter.

I've never been interested in probability much before taking the 170A/B series with professor Iseli, but it has become one of the topics I enjoy most in mathematics. The course is difficult for sure (I also think 170A was just a lot more dense and difficult compared to 170B), but if you need to take it, I do highly recommend you take it with professor Iseli given the chance!

I took both 170A and 170B with Iseli, and I can 100% say that she's the best math professor I've ever had at UCLA. She gives clear, engaging lectures, takes good notes, and makes sure to answer questions in class and in office hours. Her homeworks, quizzes, and tests can be quite tough, but there are never any curveballs; she's always very clear on what she tests you on. But beyond that, she clearly goes the extra mile to make sure students get the most out of the class: she constantly asks for feedback and improves on the class, does extra workshops on how to use LaTeX, and overall clearly cares about making sure that we enjoy the class! She's super approachable in office hours as well, I'd definitely recommend going to them if you can! Overall, I would definitely take another class with Iseli in the future.

(also, shoutout our TA Daniel, he was pretty great too)

As for the logistics of this class during COVID: all lectures were recorded with notes. She gives out weekly homeworks that take a nontrivial amount of time; there were 2 timed quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Definitely a challenging math class, and I'd advise against taking this if you're just interested in the applications of probability (170E/S is probably a better fit). That being said, if you do take 170B, you can't go wrong with Iseli.

She assigns weekly homework and multiple quizzes and midterms, however she was very accommodating and very organized. The course material was difficult for me, but was also very interesting. Overall a very enjoyable class.
