I took EEB 152A with Prof Gibson (Tropical Biology) in Fall 2009. Like someelse said, you have to attend lecture to watch the movies he shows in class. Take some serious notes, like names of animals and what they are doing and what country/location they are in. The class consisted of 640 points. 148.5 points from midterm one, 231.5 from final (non cumulative). About half of the questions on the final were on the videos we watched in lecture. The remainder 260 points are from discussion. Discussion is okay, a little boring at times. You have to write four "essays" on presentations that are done in class. Essays consist of a paragraph worth 10 points. Also there is a 100 point presentation you have to do which is incredibly easy. Practically everyone received 100%. As far as his lecture style... I felt it was a little dull. He tends to read off the powerpoint handout a lot but every once in a while he says something that might not be there and will be tested on. The movies are pretty cool though. I would recommend this instructor for this class. It was a nice elective to take to balance my other biochem classes.
