There is a huge gap in evaluations of Prof. Abidi. Some students blame him for his harsh grading and tough teaching, but other students admire him for what they learned from his lectures. For circuit designers, his lecture is a real feast. To follow his lecture you need a strong fundamental, so it forces you to review all the material of the undergraduate study. The way he analyzes circuits is brilliant, intuitive, and insightful. If you want to be a good analog design engineer, don't waste any minute in his lectures and really understand every word of the lecture notes. As long as you work hard on this class, the technical interview for an internship would be very easy. Forget about grading when you take this class, you will soon forget its grade after graduation, but it will benefit you for a long time.

Worst professor ever.
This is the first quarter after online classes, and every professor is using zoom recording or class recording, but he didn't have any recording at all, and he didn't have any lecture notes uploaded at all. His exams are so difficult that the average is 30%. His exercise problem has nothing to do with the exam.

He is psycho. He posted exercise problems on Tuesday of the Final week, which is 2 days prior to the final exam. What is wrong with him?

Professor Abidi is a great lecturer. He is very big on fundamentals, and generally shows you how to look at circuits from a different perspective. His lectures can be a very eye opening experience, especially since many students use circuits equations without knowing where they come from or why it's used. I had a technical interview for an internship position, and I was able to answer every single question they asked me due to Abidi's 215A lectures.

As his ratings show, Abidi is a difficult professor. His grading is notoriously harsh, so be prepared to take a GPA drop if you have to take a class with him. For graduate students, I highly highly recommend taking at least one class with him, even if you get a bad grade. It's worth it for that eye opening experience.

For undergraduates wanting to go to graduate school, avoid this man at all costs. You will not get a good grade, unless you are Tony Stark.
