Ozcan is a brilliant guy. I'll give him that. When it came down to it though, his lecturing was rather painful at times. Everyday he'd start with "today is going to be a fantastic lecture", and as the quarter continued, we went from a 2 hour lecture with a 10-15 minute break to a straight 2 hour lecture. As a senior who was fighting between senioritis and job interviews, I simply had to keep myself from going insane during his 2 hour marathons of blabber. Yes, he does know what hes talking about very very well, but he lacks organization. You never quite know what hes talking about unless you can get in the first 3 rows of the lecture hall, and as a slapdick like myself would be, thats not ever gonna happen.
Homeworks: I wish I realized how important these were, because for some of them, I just half-assed it and turned it in. He really stressed homework (~35% of your grade)
Midterm: Really easy with extra credit.
Final: I guess it would have been easy if I went to class after the midterm..
Overall, I think he is a godsend. I ranked in the 90s out of 140 kids and somehow still managed an A-. While he may push everyone to get A's at Stanford (?) like he did, at least he is very forgiving.
I'd recommend, but either be prepared to listen or be prepared to self-teach a bunch and make some friends who will listen to lecture for you.
I had this guy for EE1 and EE101. I thought he was a decent lecturer for EE1, but when it came to EE101 he started to suck some heavy balls. his lectures were so bad for 101 that the students kept looking at the clock waiting for him to shut the hell up to get out of class. he used to give breaks btwn hours but then decided to just give STRAIGHT 2 hour lectures after he realized ppl started leaving during breaks. guess what?? people stopped coming after that. his hw was super easy because the TA's just passed out the answers but his MT and FINAL were insanely hard. dont expect his questions from the hw to be related to the MT or final because while the homework is basic and more number based, the mt and final are highly highly conceptual. imo, you wont learn a thing listening to this guy talk cuz all he cares about is himself and he is realllly bad at explaining concepts. if u ever get a chance, steal his naked juice and replace it with a bottle of water. get ready to learn absolutely nothing if you take his class.
the ONLY good thing about him is that since his lectures are so bad, his grading makes up for it. its pretty lenient.
