She is one of the sweetest teachers and I highly recommend attending her office hours as she will give you a better grade based on the level of effort that you show. Ask as many questions as you can and try to engage as that is the best way to learn with this kind of class. If you truly start out with zero knowledge as I did it is a little rough starting out but you can totally do it.
This class and professor are phenomenal! As someone with limited knowledge of Farsi going in, it was so approachable and doable. Content was introduced in small enough sections that we learned at a good pace but without being overwhelmed. Exams were a tad hard but the grading was generous and helpful for learning. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone!
Professor Banafsheh is a great teacher. She is engaging and patient and I can’t wait to take the next several quarters learning from her. There is homework for every class, it’s usually two pages covering the assignment of the day, and very easy if you pay attention in class. Midterm and final are not too hard if you are keeping up with the homework and lessons.
