This class seems like a breeze for roughly 7/10 weeks of the quarter, so I am here to warn future students about what to expect. Dr. Mesri is very kind and most of the class feels like a clinical psych version of 100B on easy mode until you get to the end. Think your final paper will be graded easier than the 100B final write-up? Wrong. Just as hard, if not harder, and worth 45% of your grade. The first 2 mini-assignments make you think it will be an easy A, but alas, my paper was picked apart by the TA. Do the SONA EC and be extremely meticulous with the last 2 assignments, and you will be fine.

Compared to psych100B, this class is a lot easier. We had two very easy assignments at the beginning of class and then we did a class experiment and each of us had to write our own research paper. There is a lot of writing involved though so if you don't like writing maybe you won't like this class. The final paper was graded more harshly than the rest of the assignment but it was nothing too bad, just make sure to be detailed and follow apa guidelines. The professor and the TA are very helpful and nice and they help as much as they can. Overall, I really liked this class and i did not find it stressful at all.

This class had the potential to be great, but sadly I really didn't learn much. It starts off pretty slow and easy with the first two assignments. For the third, almost everyone in the groupchat did a lot poorly (when most of us got 100% on the first two assignments). Grading was inconsistent and the expectations for the final paper were not clear at all. On top of that, not a lot of feedback was given back on the paper, so most of us didn't know what we could do to improve the paper. The professor is very nice though, and she didn't have a late-policy which was very convenient during COVID times.

I believe this was the first time that Professor Mesri taught Psych 126. I bought the required textbook but it was completely unnecessary, as the grade was based on 4 simple assignments (55%) and the final essay (45%). I really enjoyed the lectures and class activities but I would say the grading in the second half of the quarter was pretty tough and at time unclear. The whole class was around setting up a class experiment, conducting it, and writing up a report which ended up being ~20 pages (including title page, references, and tables). Definitely the most writing for a class I've done at UCLA. I learned a lot though and this class is definitely helpful to prepare for psychology research/grad school! If you time manage well, it should be no problem. She also offers extra credit through SONA studies and is very flexible about attendance. Setting up a class GroupMe was also super helpful!
