Do not take his class if you want to learn something, and improve your writing. I don't know why he is the advisor for the honors program because he is not helpful at all, and he does not have specific guidelines for grading. AVOID!!

Allmendinger one was the most uninspiring professors i have had yet as an English major. I do not feel like i have learned anything as i have done with other professors. His lectures are unorganized, not thought provoking by any means and just BAD. that sad part was that the material was very interesting but unfortunately he was unable to do anything creative with it or enhance my understanding of it which is what a good professor does.
im my three years here I have never felt the need to post on here but i just felt it was necessary to warn people about this professor.

An okay professor. Had a midterm on three novels and a final paper on 2-3 other novels, 50-50. Midterm wasn't too bad, only a passage explication with open book, so you can look up the context and the placing in the plot. Final paper had the option for a creative writing piece, so write a 7-10 page story rather than an essay. He's open to new suggestions, doesn't consider any opinion stupid, and has some good comments to make himself. Talk in class for extra credit and go to office hours for advice on paper topics. And take good notes in lecture; with notes and sparknotes (usually sparknotes are enough) you'll do good.

AVOID! There is no reason to put yourself through this guy's garbage. He is a hard grader and boring as heck. He contradicts himself and is totally unapproachable. I should have posted this sooner but I have been busy trying to make up for the damage he did to my GPA.
