Professor Mayer is an amazing guitarist and instructor. He only has to listen to a song and already knows what the strumming/finger picking pattern and chords are, which is really neat to watch seeing him work out the song in a matter of seconds or a few minutes. He's very patient and if you are really into learning how to play guitar (truly and not just for the grades and units), you can always ask him for help on how to work out a particular outside piece that you are trying to figure out how to play. The class is pretty cool... we get to play a bit of every genre and get to also learn a bit of music theory, which was interesting since I had ZERO musical background. He is by far my most favorite professor out of all the classes I have taken because he is truly passionate and very patient/helpful towards students about guitar/music. Take this class... you won't regret it =)

Professor Mayer is absolutely great! Like the review below says, he is VERY nice & patient. I enjoyed all the songs that we learned. For the first time in ages, I actually looked forward to going to class. He's very helpful & sweet. Oh, and to top that off, he is also smouldering sexy... ESP. when he plays and sings for the class. Gdamn.
