Professor Grijalva is such a genuinely caring and considerate professor. He doesn't bring on more stress for his students and instead provides helpful notes and gives very informative lectures that are easy and somewhat enjoyable. Every teacher should be like Prof. Grijalva.. interesting information, easy exams and Extra Credit! I got an A+ :)

Basically, Grijalva is a really nice guy. He seems pretty concerned about his students. The only issue is that I took his class in the afternoon, and I would get real tired during the two-hour lectures. He's very enthusiastic but has a tendency to be redundant, talk slow, and go off on tangents, which loose my attention and I always ended up falling asleep. However, the lectures are online, it's an easy class, 6 hours of psych study or alternate papers required, two midterms, one final, all non-cumulative.

If you are a psych major and have to take psych 10, take it with Grijalva. All of my friends who took psych 10 with other professors complained, but Grijalva was a breeze! He is a great lecturer, but posts his lectures online so i never went. I never did any of the reading, just make sure to keep up with the lecture material, and with a little studying before a test (there are 2 midterms and a final, all non cumulative) you will most likely do pretty well.

Professor Grijalva was great. He's a really nice guy, is very interested in what he teaches, and the material genuinely interesting. Grades were based on three exams, all worth 33% of the final grade and all multiple choice. I'm sure most people could pass his class without going to lecture, but I would encourage people to go anyway - it'll just save you time from having to study everything on your own.

Bottom line: if you're going to take Psych 10, make sure to take it with Prof. Grijalva!

Tests were non-cumulative which is wonderful. The material got a little boring at times but I think Grijalva himself is a great teacher. You can tell he is very concerned about his students. I got an A in the class by studying his slides and just skimming over the modules. As an engineer who just needed a GE\326I highly recommend.

Grijalva is the man. He is an awesome teacher who is very interesting and completely sucks you into his lectures. He is also very nice and gladly will stay and chat after class. His tests are very easy and straight forward -- if you know the material you will get an A; no tricks.

Definately take his class if you can!

Professor Grijalva is truly a nice guy. The class was very organized in that he posted all the lecture notes online. When he realized that we could not cover all the material in the given time, he would adjust the schedule. Though it was not necessary to attend lectures to do well in the class, I felt that it reinforced the information so I wouldn't have to study as much for the tests. As stated in other posts, there were 3 non-cumulative multiple choice tests consisting of 60 questions, all equally waited. Though the lectures were sometimes drawn out, he did give breaks and sometimes let us out early. He was also very generous with giving extra credit. I would recommend people to take him for any class.

Professor Grijalva was a great professor! His lectures were on powerpoint so he was always organized and prepared for class. He posted the notes online so we could print them out and come to class ready to listen. He made lectures interesting by showing videos and telling funny stories about his family. Lectures were a bit long so he gave a break since he knew we would start "nodding off." Test wise, his exams were fairly easy and very straight forward. There were three 60 point multiple choice exams that were NOT cumulative. If you read the book, you would do well. The book was also interesting! Professor Grijalva offered extra credit opportunities such as randomly giving out points for coming to class, volunteering for a survey, and having 10 extra credit questions on the final. He was also always willing and able to meet for office hours when necessary and responded to emails quickly. I got sick at the end of the quarter and he was very understanding and worked with me on rescheduling for the final. He even graded my exam as soon as I finished. All in all, I would highly recommend Professor Grijalva for any course. He is caring, considerate, and very effective as a teacher. He says he will be teaching Psych 10 more often so if you are wondering whether to go prepsych or not, this is your chance. He is the reason why I decided to go prepsych ...

I didn't go to class a single time after the first midterm and got an A in the class. The book is fascinating. Grijalva's lectures stink, or maybe I just couldn't stand freezing in CS50 for 2 hours. The tests are not cumalitive and he offers some extra credit.

Word to the wise - (if it's the same book) go through the study guide and do all the multiple choice questions.. he used some of them verbatim on the tests...

He has to be one of the nicest professors here. He does studies on stress so he tries not to stress out his students. If he doesn't get a chance to cover a chapter then it will get pushed over to the next exam and sometimes he will just exclude the chapter from the readings. He tells little stories to keep the students entertained and you should be able to get by in class if you read his lecture notes (posted online)and read the book. He even gives you chances for extra credit.
