Quarter: Fall 2022
Grade: N/A
Nov. 28, 2022

This class requires 50-60 hours of community service in Spanish in the community. Professor Suhr helps you find places where you can work, but this means volunteering 6-8 hours/week, which sometimes can be difficult to manage on a busy schedule. However, I would 100% recommend this class. It is one of the best and coolest classes I've ever taken.

Professor Suhr is one of the most kind and passionate teachers I've ever had. She is amazingly intelligent and does an excellent job of passing that spark and curiosity of life to her students. She truly cares about the world and all the volunteer work that we were all doing and it is so evident.

Three hour classes are extremely difficult but she did an amazing job of making them entertaining and holding us to high expectations as well. I really appreciated her as a teacher and I feel inspired to go and conquer the world. She gave excellent feedback and made me want to do well in the class, not just to get a good grade, but to actually learn and conquer the material.

The class is taught in Spanish and we have to speak in Spanish all the time as well. She was so patient with all of our bad Spanish and did a great job at making us feel comfortable enough to try to speak. I feel so bonded to my fellow classmates and I will remember this class for year to come. I really would recommend Professor Suhr to everyone. This is such a cool class that makes you get involved in the community.

The grade includes: the 50-60 hours of service, 3 diaries (written in Spanish), a mid quarter oral presentation on what your service is, weekly response posts, and a final project. The out of class work isn't too bad besides the service hours. The final project includes creating something to help your organization or writing a research paper.
