The topics in this class are incredibly interesting. I was going through a rough time when I was taking this class, and so I ended up with a B - which I will forever be mad at myself until I graduate. You can easily get an A in this class, and here is how you do it - MEMORIZE EVERY DEFINITION. Seriously. That is 99% of what it's about. Make flashcards before the exams and make sure you memorize them. I didn't do that and of course, I mixed the terms up - that's how people do badly because it can be tricky for the exams. She has you get into groups for the exam which boosts your score up. The grading for this class is kind of annoying because each question is worth like 2.5 points and there are only like 25 or 28 questions or so, and it only gets counted out of 22, I believe because of the group exam thing. Regarding the professor, I honestly found her to be the least engaging professor I have ever encountered in the psych department at UCLA. She's really quiet and it's hard to hear her if you don't sit close to the front. She doesn't really try and get class discussions going, the class feels hurried because she seems like she just wants to get through the slides. Again, the concepts in this class are interesting - but I would take it with another professor who makes the class better like Lieberman. The final was a little tricky, she shows this movie at the end regarding the military and the question on there basically cost me a B+ in this class - make sure you pay careful attention to that. Also, the book is annoying and long, but you have to read it. Don't rely on the lecture slides!! The discussion is kind of boring and not really that helpful for the exams in my opinion. I also would recommend going to class as boring as it can seem at times. Again - super easy to get an A, but you have to put the time in beforehand!!

This class was easy, and the material was engaging! Parkinson can be a little confusing with her lecture slides, but honestly, she posts all of them on ccle so if you miss anything it is not difficult to go back and ask the TA or look it up in the textbook. I would highly recommend taking this class because social psychology is incredibly interesting, Parkinson uses engaging lecture dynamics with videos and examples, and it is fairly easy. Best of luck!

This class was chill!
Interesting topics which are covered in lecture obviously make studying not a bother and sometimes enjoyable, just bc its fascinating!
The txt book for this class was probably the best textbook I ever read (and probably the only one I ever read) because it explained the material in a relatable way like I was reading Buzz Feed articles not lecture textbook lol.
The teacher is super sweet, young, as are the TA! Such role models. Her lecturing is not the greatest but her slides are good, and she tried to incorporate videos into the slides which thank GD for those bc it snapped me back when I felt like I was falling asleep a couple times.
3 exams non of them cumulative and she does this cool thing where after you take the exam, you pair into groups of 3 and take it again in a group and she adds the points from that to your exam.
Honestly, you do need to study and read though but if you pay attention in class it will help you out a ton!

Sooooo easy. Do not go to lecture. 3 tests, non-cumulative & partially taken in groups. Very, very easy to get an A. All you need to do is study her lecture slides, all the questions come directly off of there. There are some small assignments you do for discussion but those are literally nothing. She also gives extra credit and is a really nice woman

Since students achieved good grade will recommend her class and those got bad grade would choose to say nothing. I tried to write this evaluation as fair as possible.
I took this class and I thought it would be an easy class since I had previously taken a social psych course and the reviews said it was, but it really wasn't. Professor was really nice and knowledgable, but she's new and her lecture was kind of confusing even though she tried to give interesting examples. Powerpoint were provided. Take notes! Tests were difficult, and some questions were tricky. Materials were quite a lot.
If you were good at reading and memorizing things, this class was suitable for you. Otherwise, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. You will be struggled in tests. It's not an easy A class. Good luck.

I heard from one of my friends said her teaching is clear and easy A as long as you work on it, so I take this class. BUT IT IS NOT EASY!!!! She is young and new to teaching, with kind of confusing. Her tests are difficult and you need to put much time on reviewing all the materials. She is nice, but not a good "lecturer".

Honestly, I loved this professor and the class! She's young and I think that makes the class more entertaining just because she has energy and you can tell that she loves what she's doing. She gives amazing examples that help you remember the material and the vocabulary words. The tests are very straightforward, no surprises. In discussion, just make sure to participate a LOT because it will really help your grade and TA's are really anal about participation. I got an A-, and I actually enjoyed coming to class. You also do part of the test in groups, which will help your score in the long run. Take the class! She actually brings in real world examples that will keep you interested.
