Richardson made this class a lot more difficult than it needed to be. The material itself is not hard to understand (as long as you have a basic understanding for calculus), but Prof. Richardson consistently put topics on the test that were irrelevant and not covered in class. His tests are extremely hard and he aims for an average of around 50% to "get a nice bell curve". I ended up getting an A- in the class, but I felt like I had mastered the material better than that grade indicated. Make sure you take advantage of all the freebie points he gives, such as homework. If you can, I would try to take this class with an easier, better rated professor. If not, it's not the end of the world, but be prepared to really work and dedicate a good amount of time to this class.

this professor wasn't on bruinwalk when i took the class. do not DO NOT take him. his averages are around a 30%-40% which he does curve up to an A. however, if you're not amazing at math, you'll end up with a C in the class because you'll look at the problems and not even know where to start because they're so damn complicated and intense. that explains why the curve for a B is at 30%. He has around 7 or so problems on the midterms along with some true/false questions. if you miss the true/false he deducts 2 points. if you care about your gpa. just don't take him. just DONT.

well i learned a lot... he went over stuff in great detail. i guess the last person on this wasn't listening, because he told us we can write whatever we want on his evaluation because he was leaving ucla. but his tests were hard. and the negative points made the test even harder. the lowest score on the final was a 0%... so someone who actually goes to ucla... made it all the way to math 31B... and couldn't even get 1 points out of 100 ... on a FINAL! ...

When teacher evaluation time came around, he said "I don't even care what you guys give me because they can't fire me." He was god awful, made his tests incredibly difficult just for his own amusement, and he was fat and ugly. Our final was hard enough with very difficult problems, but he decided to put a T/F section where he takes away two points if you guess wrong. Do yourself a favor and take another professor because his fat lardy ass couldn't care less about student learning.
