This class was very useful for my studies, and although I really struggled with the quizzes we had in discussion (it took until week 9 or 10 for me to get full credit on one), the midterm I did about average (in person test, closed notes) which was 85, and the final was very similar to CM123 in which we are given prompts and we choose one or two of them and create an experimental study to answer the prompt. The professor was very funny and very helpful throughout the course.
I was able to enroll in this class even though I hadn't taken the required courses, and although it wasn't the best idea, I was able to do well by dedicating a lot of time to rewatching the lectures and taking notes again to prepare for the quizzes each week.
Dr. Colwell is a very good lecturer. I wasn't super into the topic of the class going into it, but it was worth listening to lectures because he was entertaining and made you want to learn the material. The class wasn't too difficult either, and as long as you review lecture slides, the quizzes, midterm, and final are all very manageable. Would highly recommend this class to all Phy Sci majors.
Professor Colwell is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. Super understanding and extremely knowledgable, makes you actually want to go to class and watch every lecture. He's genuinely so sweet and understanding and easy to talk to. Also so good at answering questions! lectures and discussion are optional, but highly recommend you go because he gives lots of information about exams during them.
Professor Colwell is a respected researcher at UCLA. He has done some work with Chancellor Block, who will be one of the guest lecturers. The material is very interesting and Colwell makes it very exciting for students. About 45% get A's, which is a pretty fair amount. This class does require some time dedication, but it's definitely a lot easier than Physci core classes. There is one midterm and a final, mostly multiple choices and True/False
