Do not take this class if you are a casual coder. This professor is so boring, and he takes all the fun out of python. Each question on the midterm and final is an edge case, or some very specific niche that can be easily searched on google in the real world but something you would never think to commit to memory.

No. No. No. If you are not a crazy CS person, do not take this. It only has PIC10A as a pre-req, which I did fine in (A-), but this class is not reasonable. Midterm average was in the 60s, and he had to send out an announcement asking us to not give up. He does not give any cheat sheets on exams so you have to remember all the methods and arguments. He also does not record lecture or respond to his emails. Seems like a nice enough guy but other than that.... really do not recommend this class.

Overall, this is a good class. Liao offers lots of extra credit, group work, and his lectures are clear and helpful, although they are not recorded. That being said, I think he realized in the last week his class was on the easier side because he blindsided us with a final so difficult the average was a 63, and he did not curve it. My final dropped my grade 10% overall. If this were not the case, he would have stellar reviews from me.
